Oh dear ... another puzzle with straightforward clues. The endgame was more interesting, however.
We must have a stinker coming up.

From the absence of any comments I assume everyone is clear about what is supposed to be outlined on the submitted solution grid. I'm not sure whether we're being asked to outline the shape referred to in the second word of the first instruction, or whether we have to go further and indicate clearly the "eight faces involved". The fact that we weren't asked to highlight the thing suggests the latter, but there are problems with that course of action because of the barring. That part of the preamble strikes me as a bit unsatisfactory.
Interesting question Scorpius (though I do agree with emcee's response). As someone who enjoys the Listener but who does not submit, I do not worry myself too much about such considerations. However being now a recent, but fairly competitive, submitter to Magpie I appreciate the concern as to exactly what the arbiters of these matters exactly want to see. Still frustrated at my one failure last year, and my already one failure this year due to no-one other than Charybdis (or should I say Chorybdis :-( ?
Gitto - try [email protected].

I was pleased to have relatively easy clues, too. Often, I read this thread and wish I could get the get the grid filled in the harder crosswords so I could experience the thrill of the PDM and endgame. Haven't finished yet, but enjoyed each step where I've found some enlightenment. I'm still puzzled by the significance of "entirety" and the seemingly missing letters from the title.
