Kanye West Incites Mass Intimidation
47 Answers
Kanye West has managed to turn being an ignorant moron into an artform all of its own.
Here, he even surpasses his usual boorish behaviour by insisting that everyone in his concert audience stand up before he will perform a song.
He zeros in on two individuals who are not standing, while the crowd chant and boo at them.
It turns out that one fan is wheel-chair bound, and the other has a prosthetic limb, so West continues his set.
My view is - if an artist advised me he was not going to continue until i stood up, I would remain seated on principle - I stand when and if I wish, not otherwise, and certainly not because I am instructed to do so from the stage.
Leaving aside the tastelessness of this behaviour - does anyone agree that no musician can bully their audience into behaving the way they want? Leave the poor man alone, megalomania can't be easy to deal with.

As I advised in my original post - it is not so much the fact that this man is so stratospherically stupid as to demand that his audience rise at his command -and that one lady is, quote 'OK' when she has waved her prosthetic limb at him to underliner her abillity fo obey his command -
it is the fact that any artist would prsume that his or her audience can be ordered about in this arrogant fashion.
Far more common is a band member doing the "Clap your hands, c'mon ..." while pantomime clapping over his or her head to get the audience to join in.
If I am enjoying mself, and would clap anyway, fine, but there is no way I will do it because I am asked to.
Had I been at KW's gig, I would have stayed seated on principle, and I would have waved my notepad at him as a hint that singling out music journalists who are reviewing your show is a singularly bad idea!
That's because I would only ever attend a KW gig in a professional capacity - I would only go and see him if you paid me!
