Wall Mounted Toilet?

Does anyone have one?

I have a small bathroom and understand that they make the room look bigger. I also think they look nice and neat (I guess it's down to personal taste) but I wonder what the weight restrictions are....would hate to sit on it and break it off the wall. :o)

I do like the look of them, so hygienic, but I do wonder if a largish person used them would they stay put ? :)

The real problem is maintenance - they all look very sleek and shiny - but are an (expensive) nightmare to fix if they go wrong.

How can they be hygienic? Men have enough trouble as it is aiming at floor-mounted ones, so God knows what they will do with a wall-mounted one.

MrsC....I rejected the wall mounted one for the reason you give....but I chose one with the cistern hidden in a run of cupboards....not deep and I chose a sleek, short projection pan.....x

I've done some searching on t'internet and found one website that says as long as they are installed properly they will take about 30 stones!

I'd feel more confident if I knew of a big person who had one. OH sat on one in a showroom today (he's about 17 stones) and it was a bit springy. I wonder, though, if the displays set up in showrooms are fully bolted down. I suspect they aren't (just a guess though).

They are not really 'wall mounted' the wall is actually a sort of false wall with the mounting frame behind it see here.

Fixings are normally supplied that will be ok providing you have a solid wall to fix to

The bathroom sealant (or whatever it is) round my current pan has gone a horrible brown colour and it looks disgusting. It's definitely not what it looks like and no amount of scrubbing it gets it clean.

We are redesigning the bathroom and I do like the look of these wall-hung jobbies.

Sealant does discolour after a few years but you can remove it and replace it with new sealant .(now available in a variety of colours not just white)

As Eddie says but just make sure you use a sanitary grade of sealant

Thanks for the link, Eddie. My OH has just sussed those frames out, and told me the frame would more than likely cost more than the toilet.

We do have a good strong brick wall to fix it to (an outside wall).

I also like the idea of the cistern hidden in a cupboard, like Gness has.

Dave, do you know if they have a tendency to go wrong? Do you have one or know anyone that does?
