I've finished this after much frustration, but don't understand how you get 'EXTERIOR' from 'Stranger reportedly against surviving without a social worker on the outside'. I assume 28ac is HERALDED but don't see how you get it from 'Paid attention about grade after artist switched degree'.

I can't say I have ever seen the letter D used as an abbreviation for 'degree'. It annoys me intensely when setters just pick a random word and pretend it can be used to indicate its first letter.
I also can't see how 'calling about money acquired by returning soldier' gets CITING. I can see GI for soldier, TIN= money? Where does the C come from?
