Listener 4328: Reductio Ad Absurdum By Stick Insect

The title just about sums up my feelings about this one: sorry, Stick Insect, but I was hardly into gear before I finished. Perhaps we'll see a few newcomers to the Listener fold encouraged by an easier-than-usual puzzle.

Well, we have just got there very quickly but are laughing at what we have found around the perimeter. After the tough ones at the end of the year, I am very happy to have some relatively easy and amusing solves. I think this is a fine way to start a year and to encourage newcomers.

Thank you Stick Insect-as a bit of a newcomer, it has certainly encouraged me. In fact, I almost felt I'd finished before I started.

Feeling a little underwhelmed by the finish, although it's nice to have another relatively easy puzzle to get us going in the year.

Not much point to it; it reminds me of a puzzle a few years ago.

Anyway, it should encourage more entrants which has to be good.

Nice and easy, and in fact the perfect antidote to all the nasty news in the real world today. I'm happy to have a gentle start to the year - I'm sure there is some tricky stuff round the corner!

A nice straightforward puzzle. A welcome distraction from a couple in the magpie that I have hit a brick wall on. I like the sense of fun that appears in the listener at times. Overall well balanced.

With Himself away, I was looking forward to spending a fair amount of the weekend with the Listener. However, even I finished this in less than an hour and a half, so it probably is a little on the easy side. As has been said, it will be nice easy checking for Mr Green - a task that must sometimes be very much otherwise.

There is a down side for Mr Green in that an easy puzzle will produce a big number of entries, each of which he will have to record.

Chuckled like many others at the PDMs and the final result, for which I thank Stick Insect. If one may nitpick, clues were often a tad facile for a Listener and with no symmetry and a double unch on the top row, grid design could have been better ... but still it was much-needed light relief from the horrors of the week in the world....
