Nice to see a helpful contributor winning.Enjoy your prize.
Should have added enjoy your prize Roslyn.
Am I right in thinking that in order to find all 5 "thematic objects" at the end, you have to ignore (altogether) 5 other letters?
Congratulations Ros.

Always nice when one our group is successful especially one
as popular & respected.

Hi Greedy

Yes that is how I have taken it. Last 2 of the ones near the bottom and last one from middleish answer.
Question Author
Sorry meant to say 1 from one of the bottom, 2 from the other and 2 from middleish one
Exactly, Daniel --- thanx 4 confirming, plus as always for posting of course. And belated congratulations publicly to Ros also!
A hint, please, for 23a 'love at no time a big lie' (5, hyphened). I have first 4 letters and high confidence in first 3 of them, but cannot for my life see an answer! Thanks
P - Have you got it in the meantime? It's an example of rather strange spelling, but an expression for a 'big lie' is a '1er', okay? The doubling of the 'e' is confusing when seen written down, but it sounds right!
Thank you, Ironie. I haven't come across that one. Stupidly I had only looked under 'on' in Chambers... Nice to have finished at last!
I am stuck on two clues in Spectator 2199.
11 across and 29 down. Help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
It's always better to give the clues, especially in an older crossword - not everyone will have the crossword, not everyone will still have the crossword.

11A. I present pupil with close to perfect score (5). Ippon - a martial arts term, I think.

29 D. Trafficker lifted Ming vases etc? (6). Trader - just Red Art reversed ('lifted').
