"Yes, it's true." "See, told you!"
"No, it's utter nonsense." "Yes, but you were conditioned to say that."
The fact is that it literally never even came up at school for me. Not in our history lessons, which seemed predominantly about WWII and earlier. I didn't take politics anyway; all other lessons had a strange tendency to focus on the relevant subject. I learned about Thatcher elsewhere, and I'd say I've got a fair share of views on her, from my ex-Tory-Councillor grandmother who could wax lyrical about her in ways that I think even you might find OTT, and my definitely very leftie DOS at Cambridge who (and I should note, only after I brought it up in conversation) felt she was the devil incarnate. Brainwashing? Never happened. Ever.

Ed is trying - rather clumsily, to pin down his street cred on a number of fronts -
he's a feminist and bang up to date - 'Let's have a female James Bond ...'
Let's not Ed - Bond remains one of the iconic unreconstructed 1960's screen characters, to mess with his gender is to kill off a wonderful export - which is what you try and say about musicians you know nothing about!
"I like bad taste ..."
Oh stop it Ed - the self-deprecating irony doesn't suit you at all! You are a potential Prime Minister for heaven's sake - stop this ' I know it's rubbish but I like it schtick ...'.
Either speak as you should as a party leader - I like Ah-Ha, no explanation needed - they are a classic pop act, or, if you are going to be ironic, stick with saying you thought One True Voice deserved a better break.
Actually, better still - talk about issues that matter to your voters, this 'Please like me, I'm just like you ...' line disprespects both you, and the people you want to vote for you.
