Myopthy Query....asking For Help
7 Answers
Hi all, been a very long time since I posted on here but I am sure you lot can point me in the right direction!
My poor Dad has been on long term steroids for chronic Asthma which has unfortunately turned into COPD, managed again with steroids, although it's now a minimal dose as he has developed 'Steroid induced myopthy' and his poor legs are suffering the brunt of the muscle loss, also his arms are staring to wobble too.
He has lots of other problems too, Prostate Cancer, Ischemic heart disease, Rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis being the major ones!!
He will be 73 in November, and despite all his other ailments he's really struggling to come to terms with the irreversible muscle loss and loss of mobility in his legs, so my poor Mum is looking for a localish support group for people suffering muscle use loss, or loss of mobility, as he feels as though he has no life, just an existence. I try my best as a loving daughter, take him for days out with my kids, but he's either stuck in a wheelchair, or on his mobility scooter. We are in the Northwest, near Liverpool, and I've googled my socks off but can only find info about the condition, not any support groups.
Ant help, or advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA xx
