I have a query re this, my last one.

5 D. Heard where a cat sat, a noble form of imitation? (12)
o?o?a?o?o?i?

Onomatopoeia fits the imitation part, and the cat sat 'on mat' etc. Is the 'noble' just referring to'poeia' sounding like 'peer'?

Thanks, I often have to query these 'sounds like' answers - 'peer' and 'poeia' don't sound at all similar to me!
Well above is exactly how I pronounce it, guess my Lancashire accent has a lot to answer for.
Actually having researched it, seems my accent isn't the problem and I' saying it correctly.

Thanks again - I listened to the link. I think it's MY (Scottish) pronunciation that blurs this for me!
