Gig Of The Week - Hélène Grimaud
14 Answers
I've just hot footed it (ie driven carefully and legally) back from The Barbican, where we saw Hélène Grimaud playing a stunning recital of piano works based around the theme of water, along with a Brahms piano sonata.
A superb performance, with three encores.
And, Hélène Grimaud ... well, one feels that one would if one were unattached ... and if she was, you know ...
Anyway, fab night, and ... Gig Of The Week?

The Eurovision Song Contest or this superb alternative just down the road from you?

I hold the Hallé in great affection. Back in my student days in Sheffield my two best friends were studying music (and I'm a clasical music fan too). During the concert season the Hallé (under the wonderful James Loughran - or 'our Jimmy' as he was known to audiences) performed in Manchester and Sheffield on alternate Fridays, so we all got our fortnightly dose of culture (plus a few bevvies afterwards, of course!).
A great pianist too!
