I hurt my calf muscle 2 weeks ago, it was probably a pull or a small tear....no bruising or swelling, just pain when i walk.

A week later, after doing very little, apart from taking it easy, i damaged the same muscle but a bit more painful.....i was walking up some very uneven and steep paths.

Forward wind to today....calf still heavily strapped with tubigrip butt feeling much better, i walk up uneven paths again and the muscle goes again.

So i'm no better then i was 2 weeks ago. I don't want to go to docs, there's no swelling or bruising so not sure anti inflamatory drugs will work.

Do you have any suggestions ? I'm 50 years old and over weight but on my feet all the time.

I think that anti-inflammatory drugs e.g Ibuprofen would be a very good idea.
You are 50 yrs old, overweight, so this will take time to heal.
Being "on your feet" the whole time will not help, but i gather that you need to earn a living.

Be patient and take the anti-inflammatory drugs.

Thank you sqad....i also have high blood pressure so can't take ibruprofen. looking at lots of rest then
Why can't you take Ibuprofen if you have high BP?
Question Author
it raises your blood pressure
naaaah!...you will only be taking them for less than a week.

I would n't hesitate..........but, up to you.
Rice the muscle whenever you can (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)
I get those symptoms every so often. A leg (never made notes to see if it differs or always the same one) "goes" for some unknown reason, and I spend a time limping. Can be a short time, can be weeks such that it begins to seem limping is the norm. It finally sorts though before the other leg goes due to extra strain, although sometimes I think it's a close call. I don't think you need the doc, just take it easy as possible and let your body sort itself out.
