Mere bagatelles. I won the Lancelot twice a few years ago when the prize was £500. I only ever wanted to win the Parker sonnet pen they first offered as the prize. I could of bought 10 with the prize money but didn't buy one in the end. :-)
I was given a gold Waterman presentation set by the late King Hussein (jock) of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan a good few years back. It came with matching gold propelling pencil and biro pen in a velvet clad box with his crown embossed on it. That sits in the back of some cupboard never seeing the light of day. :-(
I think most of us here only used pen and ink years ago. Biro's were banned in my schools. We got a nib holder and a weekly ration of Quarto paper and one nib if needing replacement.
