Ev 1211 Annual Leave
11 Answers
Hello EVers,
I am amazed I actually have a fully populated grid, and in accordance with the "highllighted" grid letters.
As a total philistine I had not heard of 7d, nor his works. I am still somewhat bemused by the component can be derived from the answer to the corresponding clue, which consists of wordplay only. So my total "DOH" moment has yet to arrive.
I suspect I heard a very loud "OH NO" from devadolly when she spotted the Compiler. I actually didn't look to see who it was until I had been through the clues looking for gifts, and had found very few.
Relaxing now with a South African red from the Western Cape, quite quaffable, albeit inexpensive.

I had never heard of 7d, but to be honest that is no surprise given my level of literature knowledge! But he did suggest how long and where you would take your "Annual Leave". He also wrote about fortune and fools! Unless GM is a fan of Russian authors he is unlikely to be of any assistance, other than sit on your lap and purrrrrrrrrrrrr at the screen in sympathy!
Again tonight I am washing down dinner with the inexpensive South African red! So far, despite all the weather warnings, the transgender storm has not arrived here, there has just been some gentle rain, accompanied by gusty winds. Certainly nothing to worry about, yet! The forecast for thursday is for sunshine and temperatures as high as 10°C.

Devadolly, now you have the author and his work think about how long and where the Author "MAY" spend his "ANNUAL LEAVE"! Grid entries are not actual words!
Have opened yet another bottle of the South African Red. I feel sorry for AHearer who is still on a very limited diet, please accept my best wishes for a speedy recovery so you can return to a more sensible fluid intake to relax with after a successful completion of an EV!!
