Well it seems that Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat-i-Ulema Islam, one of Pakistan’s largest religious parties thinks it is and I quote:

He said "that the law is un-Islamic. and this law makes a man insecure. as this law is an attempt to make Pakistan a Western colony again.”

What it is, is an example of when one has nothing to back up one's views one clutches at any straw to try to persuade. Building up fear in the unknown or some fantasy is common enough.

I suspect we'll be missing the professionally right on and inclusive for this one as it's well nigh impossible to be both pro women and pro Islam when the unreconstructed religionists set out their case in such terms without the flexibility of an Olympic gymnast.
