Size Of Chassis

Do cars have chassis sizes? I'm trying to find the chassis size of a Kia Venga but don't know where to look. Many thanks.

On a point of pedantry only, chassis is a redundant term these days but people will still know what you mean by it. See: monocoque.

Mamya's link lists "overall width" but that will relate to the tips of the wing mirrors. The "track" dimension should only be of interest to car transporter drivers and all current models fit on transporters.

Link also lists Wheelbase, or how far apart the axles are. I won't even ask why you need to know.

Thanks for your answers. I've no idea what a chassis is, but when I took my car to be washed, they classed it as a large car even though Kia class it as a small compact car, and large cars cost £3 more to be washed than a small car.When I pointed this out at the car wash, I was told it depends on the size of the chassis so there was nothing more I could say.They charge the same for my Venga as they do for a 4x4 or even large luxury cars. Flaming cheek! I can't get into a disagreement with them if I don't know what I'm talking about.

The chassis is the basic support to which the body, axles, engine and gearbox is attached and runs under the car, however, these days chassis arent used very much.

I dont really imagine that anybody does anything by chassis size these days as it would be rather difficult to measure.

I suppose what they are getting at is that it is the size of the bodywork that determines how big a job it is to wash it. They seem to just look at the car and decide whether THEY class it as large or small, rather than have fixed dimensions to determine the size. Looking at the pictures I've found of the Kia Venga, I wouldn't class it as a large car. Get it washed elsewhere in future.

You will see many different chassis here, the one that looks more car shaped (monocoque)are what they are probably referring to with "chassis size" rather than the older type of chassis.

If they base how much they charge depending on the size of the chassis I don't understand how they know the size of ALL makes and models of all cars.Oh well, I'll just go somewhere else although it's handy because they are in Tesco car park so you leave it while you shop.
