Humax Hdr-1800T Hd Digital Recorder

I recently purchased the Humax Digital Recorder and, by and large, I am very pleased with it. However, there is one situation that I do not understand. If the machine is making a scheduled recording and I decide that I want to watch something on TV at the same time I can get the picture but no sound. This applies to all channels - TV and radio. It is nothing to do with the mute button or volume control. What am I doing wrong? The product clearly states that you can watch one channel whilst recording another. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can record two progs at the same time and watch another channel i think theres a fault, ive had one if these for 6 years and has worked flawless take it back to the store get it replaced if no one else answers you on here withchanel 4 a solution
