This suggests meleguetta is different to malaguatta and is the one known as grains of paradise.
I have reached a similar conclusion - it is definitely not malagueta/malaguetta which is a Brazilian spice. The 'grains of paradise' spice is melegueta but as yet unable to conclusively find an alternative spelling as meleguetta to fit the grid.
And mine on another thread where I said meleguetta but I was told that with respect I was wrong and an explanation was given about having to use Chambers
