i'm beginning to suspect that some posters are deliberately missing out letter counts for crossword questions just to annoy me or am i just a grumpy old git?

It is irritating but so many on here have done the crossword already, recognise the clue and slap in an answer within 15 seconds. I suppose an answer is what the poster wants rather than fun for those who want to try and solve.

dashes instead of question marks

I sometimes wonder why certain people do crosswords. There is a certain prolific poster who will post up to six clues at a time, gives the letter count but not a single interlocking letter. Always closes with 'Sorry about the lack of letters. TIA'. Perhaps a colouring book would be more appropriate.

Well they get their answers anyway. Simples :-)
While some of us are being grumpy I'm sometimes amazed at the ease of some clues they can't do themselves.

I don't think the origin of the crossword matters much - it's the same clue whether it's from Glasgow Herald or Colchester Courier.

Letter counts and any placed along with full clue is just fine.
