Wordpress And Ranking On Google
13 Answers
I have recently signed up to the website Wordpress.com where you can create your own blog. At the moment I am using the basic site with no add ons, plus ins etc.
Basically, what I would like to achieve is that when someone searches for my real name on Google or the topic of my blog that either of these will return a search result, but I am unsure where best to include my real name on Wordpress.
I wanted to ask whether anyone uses Wordpress and where best to include your name within the profile/blog post.
You are given a sign in initially where you log in with your email (but the site says this stays private. In addition to this you have a username, this is currently the name of my blog site. Then thirdly, you have a 'My Profile' section which allows you to put in your first name and last name and the site says 'This information will be displayed publicly on your profile and in Gravatar Hovercards.'
So essentially what I currently have is:
Username: the name of my blog page
My Profile: my real name
My question is, if I have filled in my real name on the 'My Profile' section on Wordpress and then google my real name, will this bring up my blogs in Google search results, or do I need to actually type my name at the end of each blog post so that Google 'finds' it.
Many thanks!

I would like it that when people google my real name, it brings up the associated blog page, so I am asking where best to have my real name on Wordpress, on my profile tab, within the body of the blog article or both.
Thank you

Good luck with your blog. What's the theme? You could put a link on here.
If you can get chance, please have a look at your song threads and let us know if we have found the tracks you wanted

Wordpress.com doesn't allow you to change robots.txt. It was like that for a while ago. I haven't created any blog on that website for ages. please check yourblog.wordpress.com/robots.txt first to ensure they haven't "Disallow: /author/*" in the robots.
After you ensure that use your real name in the account:
Go to "Users" -> Click on your user name -> Type First Name and Second Name to the fields -> Select your name and second name "Display name publicly as" section
Your name will appear in search results in author page and also people will see your name in posted blogs.
If you care much about profile page, I also recommend you to use wordpress themes which includes author box, author bio box (and such...). I think there are some of them on wordpress.com.

I'm not sure if you had seen Marshwarble's post when you typed that.
I suggest you put your name in the profile, in the name of your blog page and in the body of the blog.
However, you may need to use software to get the name picked up.
