Plasterboard Around Wood Burner
hi guys, i would like to make a feature around my wood burner from plaster board, like the one in the link below. I'm a bit worried about it catching fire as the flue and burner get really hot when in use. What can i use/ do to make it as safe as possible? Thanks

Tony's answered the question, Tandh, but I'd like to add a point about finishing.
Fire-resistant plasterboards do the job well. It won't catch fire... but how do you finish it? Ordinary Gypsum skim will crack and probably start to lift after a short while subjected to surrounding heat. 150mm is the minimum clearance behind a woodburner. Skim just can't handle that.
Leave the board un-skimmed by all means, but you'll have to be creative at the outside corners... but it can be done. Plain board can be painted of course.
Lime render & skim is a good one. It will suffer from fine cracking eventually, but not too badly... and it's easily repaired if it does.
A more pukka, substantial solution would be "Supalux" board....

Looks good plain, and painted. No plastering required. Again, though, corner detail is tricky.
"Masterboard" is another one.

thanks guys, you've both made some really good points. I'm quite lucky that the previous owner built a nice little brick wall behind the burner so i won't have to worry about the back of it. But you are right about the skim cracking - the old artex ceiling was proof of that.the Supalux looks like a good idea and maybe i can use some kind of beading for the corners, i might just have a wonder around wicks and see what i can find.....
