Nasus, what gave you the letter O?

Many thanks elliemay1 and scorpiojo the clue that gave the 'l'was rascal which I got as rapscallion it was the first l. The o came fro the clue censure which with the other letters I assumed was condemn so I'm at a bit of a loss.

Tails is the closest i can get but it depends on finding an alternative to cOndemn as the answer to censure

Haven't been able to confirm it but I am almost certain I have seen the word tool as an old word for a detective.

The answer to the clue in Mondays Scotsman is 'Fools' so I think there was a mistake in the original clue possibly it is defectives rather than detectives.
