The completely barmy people from whom my daughter has just bought her new house, have for some crazy reason removed the lockable doors from the outdoor meter cupboards. It is proving very difficult to find anyone to provide replacements - perhaps the entire cupboards will have to be replaced. Any advice/suggestions gratefully received.

I would imagine it looks unsightly and makes the place look unkempt. Always the chance it could attract some plonker to start messing about with them I suppose. But Chris will know better than me. If the cupboards were supposed to have doors then I would expect those doors to be in place when I bought the property. I've heard of sellers removing plants from the garden, and light fittings but why anybody would want to take meter cupboard doors is beyond me. No wonder Chris calls them batty!
Many thanks for the replies. There`s no chance of getting the crackpot former owners to replace the doors - they`re broke anyway and liable to turn nasty if made to behave reasonably. Yes the meter cupboards most certainly require lockable doors- some people will steal or vandalise anything that they can get at.
yes i saw they are outside meters. i don't know if they Have to have cupboards round them, and for what reason. Surely equipment that is situated outside should be sturdy enough to be outside? im not trying to be funny at all, it just got me wondering why they have to have doors? The vandalism argument doesn't make any sense to me - - it's not like everyone doesnt have a key anyway (or can get one of those triangle ones) so they are hardly locked away securely
