Incidents Mot Seen By The Referee
If a foul is not seen by the referee and goes unpunished at the time, the FA can retrospectively, ban or admonish the player based on television evidence.
If the referee sees the incident, but gets it completely wrong and waves play on, then the FA will not intercede.
That is inconsistant. The aim should be for justice and fair play. The rule seems to be more concerned with protecting the officials reputations than penalising wrong doers.
Anyone agree that if the evidence shows an (elbow in Aguero's case) that the player should be punished regardless of if the referee let it go at the time?

Yes Gromit,it is an anomaly I've been aware of for a while and all you hear is 'refs are only human'!

If the powers that be were remotely interested in fair play and justice, instant replay technology would have been introduced years ago.
Their only concern is the steady stream of lunatic amounts of cash from broadcasters to keep them in the manner to which they're now accustomed.
Like most other live sport, attendances are dwindling but the myth of popularity must be maintained at all costs to protect the bottom line.

The problem is Arks it is a get out for refs who bottle it because of crowd pressure. They can make a report saying that they did not see an incident. Yes players should be punished retrospectively, but what about a penalty not given? The club cannot get a game replayed or the points back for a result that was manifestly adulterated. Replays and technology have got to be introduced, Rugby, Tennis, Cricket, even Horse Racing has a review facility and so should Football.
Sauce for the goose Arks. The officials should not be able to pick and choose which parts of a recorded match they want to accept whilst ignoring the rest. Just about every game in the country now has camera crews present nad the dosh sploshing about in the top tiers should be put to good use and invested in real time reviews just like they do in Rugby Union. Everybody said it would slow down t game and undermine the match officials. The opposite has turned out to be the reality. Players know they cannot niggle and undermine the ref because he has an immediate review back up and they know that they cannot leave the field to argue the toss with the panel.
Togo,
// The officials should not be able to pick and choose which parts of a recorded match they want to accept whilst ignoring the rest. //
They should if it is violent conduct that was missed. Whilst a wrong call for a penalty could effect the outcome of a match, the result cannot be changed retrospectively so they should not look at that.

Togo, I still have mixed feelings about replays being part of football, with Rugby they stop often enough to hug each other, in Cricket likewise scratching their @rses. In football what if play continues for a further fifteen minutes before the ball goes out of play etc. Then incident show that a player should have and is then sent off. Opposition might have scored three goals in that time with them using their sub-goalie.
