Finished but looking for confirmation I have gone for the right option - tart, last in rundown second street grabbing the nearest Pole (12) I have gone for SOUTHERNMOST although NORTHERNMOST would fit the letters (?O?T?E?N?O?T) - am I correct in my reading of the parsing?

Yes, tart meaning sour
Sour +the + (rundow)n mo (second) St(reet)
Southernmost - 'sour' (tart) + '(rundow)n' (last) + 'mo(ment) st(reet)' (grabbing) 'the'
