Hello. it's me reporting for my weekly tutorial.
There's one that I know the answer but can't work out all the reasoning; "Plot on field inside abandoned after cutting part from tree". The answer is "maple leaf" (I think) but, apart from it being a part from a tree. I don't get it.
The other one is "What includes sanctimonious touch?" I can't think of any answer other than "epitaph" but, apart from the "pi" bit, again i don't get it. I'd be grateful for help.
btw, some of you may remember that a word I didn't get last week was "Mimsy". I'd never heard of it. So i asked half a dozen school mates who i happened to see during the week and NOT ONE had heard of it. I also asked three of SWMBO's friends who came here to see her and only one knew the word and she was a bit vague about what it meant..

Jackdaw, I don't know the technical name, but I think the whole clue for Epitaph is also the definition - an epitaph usually does include a sanctimonious touch.
Thanks Mamyalynne. I had looked it up in my dictionary a it gave the sort of definitition you provide. But I wondered if ANYBODY actually uses the word.

Re 'Epitaph' - the clue is an "&lit" ("and literally so"), where the clue as a whole functions as the definition - an epitaph might include a touch of sanctimony.
Now THAT is interesting. Thank you.
I think the Archers verdict must be in so I had better rejoin SWMBO. She had better have been acquitted or I might feel the wrath of the Just!

You people are amazing and so kind to me. The Archer's verdict is fine so SWMBO is happy. I wonder what they'll talk about in Ambridge now.
Yes I am fine Lie-in King, thank you. I am even up to date with the stuff I needed to do before term. Probably first time ever...
