Pongy Chicken ... Part Ii

To all those who gave helpful advice on what I should do about the pongy chicken I bought, I took it back (frozen) to the shop this morning. I declined the replacement pack the butcher offered so was refunded my money instead. No argument. As I left the shop the butcher said 'See you soon'.... but I thought, 'You won't'.

Thanks all.

My nephew used to work in a butchers. He said when meat was packaged and came to its sell by date they'd sniff it and relabel it.

Someone I know who worked in a supermarket told me they re-label meat too.
Just out of interest, have you looked at scoresonthedoors to see what their hygiene rating is?
Question Author
237SJ, no, I haven't - but just out of interest the next time I'm in town I will..... not that I'll ever buy from that shop again.
Glad you got the right result.
You can find out their score on the internet - premises tend not to advertise in their window unless they have a good score.
I thought 'scores on the doors' was just for restaurants and 'take aways' like chip shops and burger places?
No eddie - it applies to buthers and fishmongers as well

237SJ, I didn't realise that could be checked on line. Thank you. I've checked it. They score 5 which appears to be the highest rating.
I am pleased that matters have been resolved without a lot of hassle.

Personally, I would be inclined to visit again the butcher concerned because he will remember you as the lady who didn't report the incident to your local Authority. You might even become a special customer and henceforth have the very best which is on sale in the shop.

Hans.
