Boring People
27 Answers
We have two longtime friends with whom we have a drink on a Saturday night every couple of weeks.
The town where we live has plenty of pubs/clubs to suit everyone and very often there are a few local groups belting out the usual standard songs.
Our friends (or rather the female half) insists on going to a quiet club where we can "have a chat" without being bothered by music.
This means she bangs on ad nauseum about her new job which she has decided is going to be her platform for business woman of the year awards - (in reality stacking shelves and reordering).
Unfortunately she is so keen, everyone else in the shop walks all over her and gets her to do all the *** no-one else wants to do.
To cut as long (and boring) story short, how do we tactfully tell them how boring they are without major fallouts or hurt feelings?
If anyone has been in a similar situation can you offer any advice

Stick with this friend and try to change the subject every now and then. Its nice to have friends and so many people haven't got enough, or any at all these days.

My 40+ so called Mate used to say this about me in front of the Young Lasses he use try & chat to as he was chewing gum like a fecking horse, I kept to one side observing the looks on the lasses, more often than not they used to come & talk to me about anything they wanted, a lot of us are quite, a lot of use lack the ability to chat about life's going on's, Listen as a friend, you said you are long time friends, that's what friends do even though it might be boring, have you ever thought, they might have said that about you!! worth a thought, but a thought of loosing friends would worry me more.
