Snap, Danny! Thank you. xx
Danny, this is not the same as Chamber Crossword Dictionary is it?
No Donny this is a normal dictionary.
There's a Crossword one, Donny?

Here Tilly:-https://www.amazon.co.uk/Chambers-Crossword-Dictionary-4th/dp/1473608406
I asked on my wish list at Christmas for Waterstones vouchers with the thought of more reference, but can see I have M&S. I will be pants and socks rich but reference poor.
I have a Bradford's Crossword Solver's Dictionary and a Chambers Crossword Lists.
Excellent reference book Tilly it would be my first choice of the two.

Donny, I have bookshelves full of reference books which are rarely referred to as it is easier to find answers by Googling.
You need good socks to solve crosswords, Donny. :-)

I might ask for the Chambers Crossword one now or perhaps I can be cheeky and ask for both. I'm worth it!
Thanks again, Danny.
I use my dictionaries when I am actually doing a crossword.

When I'm on AB, I just rely on my brain. This strategy often lets me down. :-(
The Chambers gives synonyms ranked by number of letters which can be vaery helpful, I am usually way too slow on AB unless I have done the puzzle and even then my typing speed leaves me way behind. The helpful thing for me is the parsing of a clue although some of the paring once explained is obvious but I still am amazed how it was reached in the first place.
I know, Donny. Some people have the knack, don't they?

The only crossword I actually sit down and 'do' is the Guardian Prize Crossword on Saturday. I enjoy that.
