Solvers/setters regularly meet up for what we call 'Sloggers & Betters', but these are usually only announced on the crossword blogs. We're trying something new this Saturday 8th July at the Snowgoose Cafe in Macclesfield - a Q&A session with 3 of the UK's top setters.
Everyone with an interest in crosswords is welcome and it's free; it'll start around 2pm. There's a pretty healthy cryptic-solving presence here on AB and it would be really good to see some of you there.

would love to go, but can't.

there was a favourite of mine on The Herald, KWG , if I remember rightly.
How on earth you lot can set those types of clues and the solvers get them - I don't know, just admiration for you all with your little grey cells
