25d: Ghastly sheatfish etc released from seal I set free (5): ?urid. It must be "lurid" (= ghastly), but can anybody help to explain the rest, please?

I can see rid (set free) but can't parse the first two letters.

[sea]l + rid looks right, but can't understand the sea as a common noun for "fish etc"

Clue is "...sea I set free" (no 'L') -
