I need help!
I don't understand what to do with the down answers - I have about 2/3s of them. Do they need reversing, anagraming or what?
As to the poem (which other posts have said is 8,3,3) I've no idea where to start to find it!
I'm also stuck on two across normal clues - Lost British force separated in fighting hides (8) and Put into groups taking temperature restored after dropping (7) I'm sure it must be an anagram of restored less the T?
Could some kind person give me some help as I'm now getting frustrated!

Ripper, the Down answers are entered normally but you ignore the existing bars. 'Put into.. ' is Stetted- Setted with an extra T.

The poet will appear on the middle line as it fills up ....you won't need all his letters ...he is famous

The downs fit in but not as usual...the answer to the down "prod..." clue is THRUST... this goes in the top left corner ... leaving 4 spaces underneath to be filled with the down "fish ..." clue.
Column 2 is filled with a 6 letter down with a 5 underneath it.
