Hi jokerman - when there are "special instructions" attached to a puzzle, you really need to post them, as we don't all have the puzzle.
This puzzle is based on the traditional practice of inserting small coins into Christmas puddings as tokens of good fortune for those coming across them in their helpings. Each of eight entries, clued in italics, including the unclued 26 Across, consists of a coin at some point within a pudding, the whole non-word being clued without definition. In one case the pudding word may be regarded as part of a (common) compound. Unchecked letters in these entries (not including letters occurring where they touch or cross) may be arranged as PAY FOR SOME, SEE, ON NOEL.
Re your answer - 'popodameer' - I can't see how you've got there & it doesn't exist as far as I can see. Can you please post the letter pattern you have - & are happy with...

scooping - back to your scraping, that barrel isn't quite empty.
As a "by the way" - that garbage, pretending to be helpful info disguised as the preamble is precisely the reason I stopped looking at this type of self-congratulatory nonsense.
*Do a puzzle!* Stop trying so hard to make them - as near as damn it - unsolvable, just to prove how "clever" you are as a setter.
Tiresome, boring, unbelievably self-obsessed compilers - they're my choice for "Room 101".
I'm not giving this Q any further attention - my apologies to jokerman - I *do hope* however that someone can help you finish the puzzle.
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you & yours. :-)
