The Week 1092

Being a pedant, I am irritated when I know what the answer has to be but I can't parse the clue.
"Drunken revelry forgotten, my early hangover could come from this" (8) H-G-A-A-.
The answer surely has to be HOGMANAY, but the best parsing I can come up with is :-
1)"early hangover" gives the first five letters of HANGO
2)"could" possibly gives "MAY"
3)"come from" is possibly the anagram indicator
4)HANGO MAY is an anagram of HOGMANAY
The above is a little tortuous but, more importantly, it leaves the 4 words "Drunken revelry forgotten, my" as totally superfluous - which is obviously not the case, so I am clearly missing something. Is there a five-letter word for "drunken revelry" comprising the letters MAYMY, from which MY is taken away ("forgotten") leaving just MAY?
