Hello, I was given a crossword shared by another member. I am really enjoying it, however, I've been stuck on one for a while. This may be due to another answer being wrong.

I am assuming it may be waist due to the responses. Thank you for the help. I think I need to re-look at a few other answers I've provided.

I also thought it may have been flank.

That's actually the one clue which I tried to make really easy because, after hours of fitting the thing together, I'd got left with a 5-letter word in the middle with 'crossers' only in the first and fifth positions.

I didn't like it but I liked the idea of scrapping the whole thing even less ;-)

Since, as I've explained above, that was the one bit of the crossword I wasn't I wasn't really happen with, I'll leave you in no doubt that the answer required there is definitely 'waist'.
