I'm sure that most people appreciate that the sentence for death by dangerous driving is set at no more than 14 years (I think this was increased from 10 years recently), so that the judge's hands were tied. What they also appreciate is that such sentences are a joke. The law really has to be changed to allow for longer sentences, especially with a record like...

He obviously had no consideration for anybody else at all. He's never passed a Driving Test or held a licence. Shown no remorse. Shouting his mouth off in court. I'd like to hear New Judge's take on this regarding the sentencing guidelines because this excuse for a man should get the max in my eyes.

He near enough did receive the maximum. The maximum sentence for causing death by dangerous driving is 14 years. Since he pleaded guilty he must be allowed a one third discount of whatever sentence is decided. This makes the maximum sentence nine years and four months.
Care must also be taken when considering multiple offences such as this. Consecutive sentences are rarely imposes and virtually never imposed for offences which arise from the same incident. So there would be no possibility of the offender serving two consecutive sentences where two deaths were caused.

Thanks NJ, I feared it might be the max, it just doesn't feel as if justice has been done.
// Yet again, people do not realise that a Judge CAN NOT just make up a sentence off the top of his/her head. They have no option but to sentence in accordance to the sentencing guidelines for the particular offence. \\
If that was aimed at me EDDIE I KNOW VERY WELL THEY CAN'T, that's why I asked NJ.
