Acer A1-810 Freezing

Have an Acer A1-810 tablet that stated freezing regardless of which app was being used. Tried a Factory reset and kept off most of the apps that i had on it but still froze and froze even more when i had to hold the power on button in for 10 seconds to reboot it - Tried a complete erase of the tablet and now the blasted thing is stuck in a reboot loop. When i reset it using the reset button it just comes up with the erasing robot every time. Is this likely to be a hardware or software problem? tablet is at least 5 yrs old.
Scrap it ? or, Would with be worthwhile putting a new motherboard into it ?
Any useful suggestions plz?

Tablets are cheap now, maybe get a replacement. Search online for reviews.
