There does appear to be a move in some media to smear Prince Charles in this case (not in this link I hasten to add, I won't give publicity to those who smear him).

Although not in favour of the current Monarchy set-up, I do have a lot of sympathy with the guy, with his background and upbringing it must be quite difficult to see through a paedo, they are apparently the most cunning criminals around, and with the Lord behind him he would have seemed unimpeachable at the time (although we know differently now of course).

Trying to link Prince Charles to this odious figure is manifestly unfair. He had probably met more people than anyone on this board is ever likely to and can't be expected to be fully aware of the background/proclivities of all/any of them.

Spot on I think.
Neither. Sexual offenders don't tend to announce the fact.

Sorry, a misunderstanding I think. My "question" referred to the Prince, and I think he's been naive.

Quite, jack.

I don't even think he's been particularly naive. There's no way of telling just by looking at someone, and his claim (true?) that he'd been investigated and exonerated would tend to back it up.

I have no idea how many paedophiles I've ever met.
