I can't remember who suggested the Irish edition of the Times might have the jumbo. It does. But the section it appears in back home isn't printed here. Still, I looked more carefully and found it. So, thank you.
It has filled in gaps in the walking, eating etc. (The weather is Irish)
I am VERY proud that I worked out "dimetrodons" crosswordly. I had never heard of them but I checked my "trod on" in "dimes" and there it was!
But (of course, this is me) there's a couple where I can't work out the reasoning. The big one is "string player's jamming style? The answer MUST be" bottle neck guitar".jam, bottle. OK. But is that it?
Another is "satellite receiver to come down after swapping three components" The answer is either minidish or diminish. Both fit and, of course, they are anagrams. But which takes precedence?
And, finally, "form of agreement extended by adding a second" "okay" fits. Is that it?
As always, please advise.

Minidish, after swapping 3 syllables of diminish.
Definition is at front or end, so - Minidish

swap 3 letters around. and you get Diminish
..well, almost 3... :-)

Doh. Of course. Thank you. And what about the other one?
Oh and I have another query. "in position I maybe must make new place base." I think the answer is plinth which is a base. But the rest?

Steven, I gave you the Okay info earlier.

Glad someone else had problems... We thought either PLINTH or POINTE (a ballet position) might be a possible for 52, but can't see why for either!
Question Author
Thanks all. Yes. neveracrossword, I got that. It was the diminish/minidish one I meant. Mamyalynne has sorted me out on that one.
steven (not sure where the 79 came from in my last note!
Best I could do is...

PL(ace) + I + nth (position)

nth

Def

(in general use) denoting an unspecified item or instance in a series, typically the last or latest in a long series.
"he had just been booted out of his digs for the nth time"
Thanks, Steven. The Minidish posts seemed fine, so I thought 'Okay' was 'the other one'.

Can someone help verbix and me please on the plinth /pointe possibilities.
steven
I'm sure my stab isn't sufficient, hope someone else can do better.
Mamya, your Plinth seems to work for me - all perfectly logical.
Question Author
Sorry Mamyalynne I sent the other note before seeing your explanation. It is very ingenious and I buy it!
I hope you are well (that goes for all of you who have yet again come to my rescue.
steven
or - N (new) + th (position) ?
Some clues you end up thinking - that will do, lol.

I know you shouldn't but...
