i have been, due to ill health unable to work. I have had three
major breakdowns the last one being in 2014 where i had ECT, much against my wishes but apparently i wasn't making any sense, and was delusional.
I have also got an underlying bowel problem that's been going on for over 8 months. now i being asked to turn up for a medical to review whether i am
able to work. I am not, and have told them so. But even my GP's letter
and filling out a 21 page form has not stilled the DWP, do i have any options, what would you do in this case. I am not mentally stable enough to be in work, nor age wise, im nearly 64 able to maintain a work commitment.
sadly my legs, knees don't get me out far, due to osteo arthritis. So going there may not be an option. It;s quite a walk from my home. I could certainly phone them. One of the abers suggested contacting my MP, who just happens to be Labour's Sir Keir Stamer. Not sure whether it's something he could help with, hence my post.
i am going to the loo anywhere between 5-6 times a day.
I am worried that i get half way there and need the loo.
i have been given some meds but they make me sick.
I a after a home visit, they do do them, but so far no joy.
Do you not have dial a ride or similar in your area? This would help keep the cost of getting there. Also, take a trusted friend with you who could at least be some support if you felt pressured by the interviewer.
without going into too much detail, what if need the loo on the way.
i have chronic, severe diarrhoea, and need to be near at all times, hence my asking them for a home visit.
i think i will contact the CAB and see what they can suggest.
danny i know, i am not asking for it to not go ahead, but for a home visit. I have to get to hospital appointments these days by hospital transport and my GP comes to my home if need be.
Dear sweet emmie, is this for PIP? I told them I wasn't physically or mentally capable of getting to them, and requested a home visit, which was agreed.
Re the form being so fat and scary, just keep in mind, being able to prepare and eat a meal, and getting dressed by self are the main things they look for.
Best of luck, Baths.
Bathsheba that is not entirely true re the PIP . There are 10 Daily living descriptors and 2 mobility descriptors and all are equally important.
Filling in the PIP form is entirely different to asking for a home visit. All the information about getting a home visit is on the back of the PIP form including a phone number I have recently helped someone full in their form and arrange a home visit and it was an easy process.
Was the website and telepne number I posted of no use? In case you can't do links:
"If you feel that you are unable to travel to an Assessment Centre, you can ask for the assessment to be carried out in your home. Please call our Customer Relations Centre on 0800 288 8777. You must contact us before your appointment."
Emmie, it's vital that you don't just not attend if you're getting no sense out of the. Ring them on the number enclosed in this link and try to get your request for a home visit granted. So sorry you're being so stressed at the moment about this. x
