Utterly perverse.
This has been all over the news but there was a refusal to name the local authority concerned.

The ‘parents’ get equal rights apparently even though he is a rapist who doesn’t deserve to know the child.

If this is the same case I think one reason they involved the rapist was because the girl was struggling and (possibly) an inexperienced social worker decided to involve the rapist as he was the father.

Whatever the case it just goes to show how politically correct the establishment has become.
'They're' seeing how far they can push people.
you have got to be kidding! More tish from TROB.
If there's any truth in this tale, then it's disgusting. Whoever authorised it should be not only sacked, but prosecuted.
While this is bad things can be even worse in the USA.

what an amazingly brave woman, one can't say what should happen to the perp but i know what i would do.
The lunatics have taken over.

The SS are simply not fit for purpose, this is extreme but there are many incidents which are equally perverse.

But what can we do? Civil servants seem to be a law unto themselves.

Perhaps we should take a leaf out of the French book and take to the streets.
jim 23:06, not sure why you felt the need to tell me that.
If this is the law, then the law needs changing FAST !!
With regards to Social services this is definitely a case of SNAFU
This is amazing n so many levels.

The first of which is that this man has made no effort to see the child he helped to create, the council approached HIM to advise him of his rights in terms of access.

When challenged, the council advised they were 'following guidelines' which again takes some understanding.

First of all, how does this situation get written into 'guidelines' in the first place, and second of all, how does anyone with a heart and a brain think that following them is a way to behave?

Something has gone seriously wrong here, and speaking personally, someone needs to be directly accountabale, and punished for this crass nonsense.

As anyone on here who knows me at all will know, I do not advocate violence, but if I was the lady involved, and anyone said to me that 'lessons have been learned', I would not hesitate to punch them.
Andy, they contacted the father when the mother applied for her child to be taken in to care. The courts need to be satisfied that all relevant parties have been informed before a care order will be made.
They didn’t suddenly decide to contact him out of the blue, they were following the law much as it seems abhorrent to us. The council is not above the law.
