Herald Prize Christmas Crossword
Please help me and put me out of my misery, I know a few of you have been doing this one. This is what the paper says exactly:-
In the border there are two statements, one about the season and the other about tonight (christmas eve). Four consecutive clues represent them as mixtures of the letters required
a. SUMMER lot on donkey yet work by a seaside vet 9,5,1,6,3,4,9
b. SPRING behemoth: he takes a lot 4,2,4,3,6,6
c. WINTER yet last white lily has to go 4,4,4,5,4,3,5
d. FALL I won't hold eight pints, tried 4,4,2,4,2,5,7
As far as I can tell these four clues go round the outsides of the crossword. Can anyone that has done this enlighten me?
