12 across: Deer hunter checks something that's bowed (4) surely it must be ARCH, but the letters I've got are ?RHU which I'm pretty sure are correct. Also I have found a 7 letter name in the middle central column, but if it's right it makes no sense to me!
As usual I need help!

Ok I'm nearly there now (proving that miracles do happen) but it says the name must be coloured, but what colour? His party colours are yellow & blue so do I colour them alternately?

Ripper: If you have not sorted it out yet, the name is a 19th century one associated with one of the thematic entries. I would have thought the colour would be the one usually associated with that entry.
