Me again! stuck as usual!
Most clues have extra or missing letter in wordplay or an extra word in the clue.
Danish king is unable to handle the first hint of unrest (4) Is Cnut correct (extra A) ?
Bond, at one point, or tie up (5) Fabris - coloured gold - attached to your pants (8)
These might get me going again!
As for the theme of this crossword I'm at a complete loss, but at least the weather is warmer!
Thanks in advance

Cnut looks good to me
C(a)nt + u inside
Bond... Moore , Moor(+E, point), James Bond/Roger Moore.
C+OR(-D)+UROY
...I needed a lot of help from google for the theme Ripper.

Thank you everyone, I'll now (as usual) spend hours trying to get somewhere!!!
PM, I'm hoping you see this as I've got in a muddle. I've solved everything, got the name, highlighting etc - but I am one letter short for tracing the route. It's the second or third (in the logical order) letter and I just cannot find it, not in the grid, not from poring over the clues. Can you help?
Sorry, PM - that (obviously) should have been the 3rd/4th letter!
Question Author
6 hours later (I'm not joking!) I have finally completed the grid, got most of the extra/missing letters & have 5 of the extra words.
I now need someone to stop me going boggled-eyed looking at the grid for the name of the blank face & location and give me a clue to what I'm looking for. Hopefully this will help me to draw the route and find the other person. Please (sorry I keep on asking) could someone help me.
Are the answers well known or obscure?
Thanks in advance.
Neveracrossword - the 3rd and 4th letters (the same letter for both) are on the same level with one letter separating them.
There's a slight descent after the 4th.
The route goes vertically Ripper.
Read down from the top of one of the columns.
It's always a pleasure hearing from you Ripper.

The dropped words are all synonyms for a (four letter) word used in the activity.

I had heard of the location but not the names.
PM, thanks for that - I knew what I needed, but I had all sorts of things scribbled alongside the clues, and my grid was rather tatty too! I enjoyed this puzzle, but there was a lot going on.
I needed quite a few notes and crossings-out for this one Neveracrossword (and a lucky guess for the name of the route).

I agree - it's a good puzzle, but did we really need 4 types of clues (I had so many possible answers depending on the 'route' I followed)?
Ripper, you also need to ask yourself why the words are dispensed with - and what that means for the activity (and why this name in particular).
PM, thanks again. It was the third letter I didn't have, I must have thought it was included in the clue's wordplay. The location and the disposed-of words helped with the blank face.

Thank you ProfessorMaisie, I now have (a) the blank face & location.
Is (d) the name at top of grid W..... H...... ?
Now to find (b) & (c)
I'll need to go to the pub if I finish this!
Ripper - you have the wrong initials. The name is given by the extra letters taken from the clues [the (c) and (d) parts of the preamble] in anagram form.
... or perhaps it was a typo - your second initial is correct.

All of the information you need is in the wiki entry (your well earned visit to the pub shouldn't be delayed for very long).
Yes, that 'minus' across clue held me up too Neveracrossword.
I thought it might be an extra ('I') letter clue to begin with, and not having the various gimmicks cross-checked didn't help (I'm sure that, for example, a Schadenfreude puzzle would've shown greater consistency). But it was fun, as you say, so I'm not grumbling... too much.
PM, thanks - that was my overlooked one (as I'd made the mistake you mentioned.) I didn't do all the missing letters, but I should have realised once I'd got the name!
