Just let the train pull out, they'd soon un glue themselves.

I'm reminded, in their actions at least, of the militant Suffragette movement in the early 20th Century. Whether history will judge these people so favourably in generations to come remains to be seen, although I won't be holding my breath.

I'm pretty sure that messing around with moving trains doesn't end well for the people concerned. Serious injury, death, all are real risks. It's completely appropriate therefore, however disruptive it may be, not to take such risks. If these protesters die because the authorities take such risks, then they would be rightly condemned.
because gluing on may be a decision
but getting off ( gluing off ) may be dependent on time and other processes
I mean why dont they drape the protesters' legs ( unglued to anything) over the electic supply
and as they fry - ask, holler
what on earth are you doing that for?
or -- no smoking in a public place !

// These are not protesters they are anarchists and should be treated as such. //
Well, whatever you call them, a lot are getting arrested. And in that, at least, there's no argument here over whether or not they should be. I'm obviously in sympathy with their fears about the future of Earth's Climate and humanity's role in shaping it, and I *still* think they're being berks. But risking life and limb is irresponsible on the part of both the protesters/anarchists/morons/berks, *and* on the part of any train driver moronic enough to think that driving off with a man stuck to the side of the train isn't going to end horribly for all concerned.

jim me old china, you don't drive off, you just start moving gently forward and they then very quickly extricate themselves. It's called brinkmanship. Radio as they are, none of them want to actually die, they rely on the lack of bottle of those dealing with it to actually deal with it. I'd sort it in 5 minutes.
It's why we ballsed up the brexit negotiations. You have to be prepared to do the unthinkable and convince the opposition that you are. By tipping your hand at the start you give them the initiative. So a little cabal of gutless elfin safetee devotees take charge and it's xmas to the protesters. Believe me if the train started moving they'd unstick themselves PDQ.
