I am stuck on the last 3 clues. I can guess at answers but can't parse them. Starting with
13a Writer about Endymion, in Restoration poetry.(8) I have R-P-O-T-R, which looks as if it might be reporter. That is a writer and could be a reference to the diplomat Endymion Porter, except he died before the Restoration.
14a is Ancient Commentary of Flemish nationally (6). I have M-S- - -. Could be Masora, but what has that to do with Flemish?
The 5th letter of 14a is also the final letter of 8d, the clue for which is An originally Celtic name for Ludlow in a historical drama film (7). I have T-I-T- -. Last letter could be R if Masora is correct. I ave no clue here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Mamyalynne. The clue to 13a is a bit misleading, as Endymion Porter certainly was in no position to write Restoration poetry, though having died during the Commonwealth. As I had never heard the word Mishna or seen Legends of the Fall (I spent some time trying to find out if Ludlow the town had ever been called anything else, which it was but that name, Dinham, was clearly not right) it was no wonder I struggled.
