Just been for our daily walk and not a duck, heron or kingfisher to be seen but as we were walking home a fox ran across the road, right in front of us, with a rabbit in it’s mouth. The kids were amazed, it really cheered them up :)
The kids are realists, foxes eat rabbits - and we got to see a fox close up with a rabbit in it’s mouth. The things particularly enjoyed it as they didn’t get to see the foxes in the field last year as they were too short to see over the hedge.
Yes foxes, rabbit eating wild animals, sort of look like ginger dogs (we know where a family of foxes live and go to see them when we can, watch the cubs play, etc).
I’m still waiting for our hedgehogs, the food and water is out but I haven’t seen them yet - hope they haven’t found better hospitality somewhere else.
Pretty sure that foxes don’t have opposable thumbs so they couldn’t hold a pen to invite the hedgehogs over (plus there’s the whole social distancing thing going on).
I've saw an owl on two nights last week. It was flying silently across the garden. Too early I think for feeding chicks so it was a probably just going home aftet a night ou ty.
