No sure what law she broke, but £811 for doing nowt seems excessive.

Breaching coronavirus rules, due to having no explanation as to why she wasn't in lockdown, apparently.

One needed a reason to be free.
Cheers Chris
Good. Hope she learns from the experience and let it be a lesson to others.

Did my first 2 hour stint on ITU/HDU today with 10 ventilated patients, youngest is aged 25.

Sadly, the attitude of the OP poster(I’m still going to the pub regardless) when this first broke and that of 10ClarionSt means I’ll be doing many more.
Do as you’re told, comply, stay in, don’t put me and others at risk.
It’s that simple.
Serves her right.

Both the young albas have been issued with letters from their respective work places which hopefully will be satisfactory if challenged as to why they are out and about at 6 ish in the morning.

Fine should have been more, stupid woman.
We arnt a police state. YET!

I too have papers if needs be (to state that im going about my lawful employment) but something takes me back to Germany a few decades ago about all of this.
Arresting someone for not having proof of why they should be travelling is not right IMO.
And arresting someone of 'suspicion' isnt right either!
Wasn't she guilty of ticket fraud too? I don't think she needed to produce papers, but she refused to even provide details of her name.
Nical, that’s correct
Thanks,Bobbisox. I think the fine was understandable and fair- there's enough going on in the country without people simply choosing to be obstructive!
//Wasn't she guilty of ticket fraud too?//
Guilty of one crime doesnt make you guilty of another (so called) crime.
Guilty of ticket fraud doesnt mean that one is also guilty of transmitting a deadly virus does it?
It seems excessive, but it's not difficult to be polite and answer the questions. Either she was up to no good, or she's an idiot. Excessive or not, she's only one person to blame.
Under normal circumstances I’d say it was heavy handed but she can’t be so dim that she doesn’t know what is going on, the police have far better things to be spending their time on than dealing with some obstructive waste of time.
Nailit, of course it doesn't (mean that one is also guilty of transmitting a deadly virus) - which is why I didn't say it. PS No-one has been found guilty of transmitting a deadly virus.
//PS No-one has been found guilty of transmitting a deadly virus//
Should of said 'suspicion' off transmitting a deadly virus, my bad.

Actually, people have been found guilty of transmitting deadly viruses but that not germain to this thread.
It does seem excessive and heavy-handed. We have to go to the surgery (6 miles) tomorrow, for OH to have a complex dressing changed and monitored by a nurse. Essential, OK? Am I in order to stop off on the way for a much-needed newspaper and a birthday card (it will be his 87th next week)? On the way back can I call in at the farm shop for meat and veg - and some compost - for next week? This is really becoming too much.
It was ticket fraud. Glad she was punished for that and for failing to cooperate- as NewJudge said the fine might well have been lower if she had cooperated and for example provided the requested details of earnings so the appropriate fine level could be set
‘ Arresting someone for not having proof of why they should be travelling is not rightK

She refused to say where she was going. She was therefore, by default, out and about without a valid reason. That’s why she was arrested and subsequently fined. No one needs proof on paper, just a valid reason.

It’s really a lot more simple than people are making it out to be.
