UK yesterday had its highest recorded death toll of 934 in 24 hrs, bringing it higher than Italy’s highest of 919, which has lead ministers to say that the lockdown will now go on for weeks rather than end sooner. Are we all surprised with this, or if is it what we expected?? Xx

Not surprised smow. It's got a long way to go yet.

Morning hun, do you really expect it to go on for weeks more??
Unfortunately I do sweetheart.
How are you?
My wife and I were discussing this again yesterday. Me personally I can’t see a favourable outcome for a long time. Until a vaccine is found. This virus will keep going round, affecting people who haven’t caught it the first time.
Bob i think the same, i reckon that China will see a second wave of casualties now they have let some people return home
This virus is only just getting it's breath, it's got a long way to go yet I'm afraid.
Personally I can see lockdown measures lasting for a minimum of 6 months.
I agree with you bob.
bob I cannot see a viable anti virus being available any time this year with testing that's involved. Hope I am proved wrong.
The review next week will certainly say we'll continue for at least 3 more weeks, to be reviewed early in early/mid May. There may even be a tightening of restrictions if that's feasible- eg no exercising 8am-5pm or more roadblocks. What happens after that will depend on the figures but the 'best' we can hope for, I think, is for some limited relaxation, maybe in certain regions, or regarding things like letting garden centres open. There will be restrictions of some sort for at least 6 months, maybe 12 months, but the large parts of the economy will collapse/disappear completely if the lockdown lasts more than 4 months so there will have to be some relaxation by July, even if Covid is still killing hundreds every day
Expected an extension, but the government will need to balance public health and the economy at some point. Maybe the warmer weather will have an effect on the virus allowing a controlled easing of restrictions earlier than forecast.
>Maybe the warmer weather will have an effect on the virus.

Hope so. It's early days, I know, but there was some research that showed the impact was very marginal. Some warm countries such as Australia and warm parts of the US, for example, have still been affected.
The wider availability of antibody testing and virus testing should be a bigger help by June
