There is a pattern emerging.
Cummings, Jenrick and Williamson all *** up massively, but brazen it out as though they are angels.
Bunch of arrogant twits ?

The algorithm should have also taken the teachers' guess as a weighted input to ensure differentials between individuals remained, but the overall mark was still as one would reasonably expect overall, i.e. same as every previous year. Shouldn't have been difficult to get it right from the start, nor bug fix & rerun.
Or, I should add, just generally failing to appreciate that it's impossible to match results nationally without hurting students locally. We can all agree, I think, that this year's cohort is not significantly "better" at exams they didn't sit than last year's. But which students' marks should be lowered? There's simply no answer to that. The only correct thing to do is either to trust the teachers -- who, it can be safely assumed, weren't deliberately conspiring to inflate the grades and were trying their best to judge students by absolute and relative standards -- or to abandon attempts to grade altogether until a safe way and time was found to set the exams.
“ He has craved power all his life, but now he has got it, he is too cowardly to use it.”
I’d say that’s not quite right. Power for Boris Johnson - and you’re right he is a power freak - is not about using it to get rid of people you think might have done the wrong thing. It’s about using it strengthen your own position. And as I indicated earlier it seems he’s calculated that booting out Williamson (who should be booted so hard his backside does not touch the ground) will harm him.
So Williamson stays.

Rather than being as pleased as punch that my 16 years old daughter’s two years of hard work resulted in her by and large getting the 8s and 9s she was predicated to get (other than a 6 in art - but art isn’t a proper subject), I should be telling her grades are worthless because they’ve been inflated.
