personally i think its doom mongering. Besides which many won;t necessarily be able to get to family for Xmas, with transport links down.

The restrictions should only be lifted as and when the lockdown has proven to be effective in lowering the stats. Otherwise, what was the point of locking us down in the first place. Don't think the virus recognises Christmas as a time when it should be putting it's feet up and not infecting folk :-/

To be honest I'm getting sick and tired of listening to hysterical tish from both sides of this debate.

On the one hand there are people that think everything should be locked down from now until forever - usually people that don't have to worry about losing their job or their business for whatever reason.

Then there are the tinfoil hatters that think the whole thing is a hoax invented by lizards so that Bill Gates can inject a microchip into everyone.

I follow the rules but I've stopped listening to all the noise as much as possible.

Most of us follow the rules, Tomus, but for how long? If restrictions are lifted just so that we can have a 'normal' Christmas, but are then immediately put back in place once the festive season is done, would you still follow the rules. I know i wouldn't.

As pointed out previously, the spread ain't a problem. It's the admissions and deaths. The more than have caught it and are now immune, the better. And the vulnerable should make their own life decisions. Using further lockdown threats is not a good thing to do.

I don't know Ken. I suspect I'm just one of many people that are fast coming to the end of their patience with the whole thing.

Things like debating whether to allow the peasants five days of merriment as a treat for Christmas don't help to keep me on side either. Not only does it make no sense, it's incredibly patronising.

But are they immune after catching it? There have been cases where people have caught it twice.

I just think we’d be better off keeping Christmas low key for once if it means avoiding another mass panic and lockdown later

to date there have been 6 documented cases of re-infection, out of millions and millions worldwide who test-ably had the virus.

that there have been reports on reinfection with COVID-19 - regardless of numbers - doesn’t necessarily mean immunity is not occurring. Issues with testing could account for some reports because “virus” can be detected after infection and recovery. The tests look for viral RNA (the virus’s genetic material), and viral RNA that cannot cause infection can still be shed from the body even after the person has recovered.

If they aren't immune then I don't see the vaccine working. It has to produce the body's natural immune responses. Of course not everyone is identical. There will be differing reactions.

His words are realistic in my opinion, for those who wish to cast caution aside for a few close family days at Christmas and think that they themselves and all they celebrate with have enough strength to cope with what may follow, then party.

It hasn't been easy for anyone but we each have to make our own choices.
